A senior title,traded for a life.
How Isabel left a Lead role at a traditional recruitment company to build an independent practice on Workfully.
The leap
Travel came first. Recruiting came second. Freelancing made both possible.
Isabel had always been a traveller. Long before she went independent, she was structuring her life around it — fitting trips between annual leave allowances, working around employer schedules, paying the time-tax that comes with full-time employment.
“I’ve always loved traveling. I guess that’s how my digital nomad journey began. Even before going freelance, I used to travel a lot, but as an employee I didn’t have much flexibility.”
Going freelance wasn’t a career pivot. It was a way to bring two sides of her life into the same shape.
“Becoming a freelancer allowed me to combine both — growing professionally, and the freedom to work from anywhere in the world.”
The discovery
A LinkedIn ad. A Senior TA listing. A title she didn’t hesitate to trade.
When Isabel first saw Workfully, she was a Lead at her previous company — a step above what the listing was offering. For most people, that’s a reason not to apply. For Isabel, the title wasn’t the point.
“I’ve learned very early in my career that titles don’t mean much. What really matters are good working conditions, flexibility, supportive colleagues, and how much you enjoy your day-to-day life.”
She joined.
The day-to-day
From a hundred tabs to one login.
When Isabel first saw Workfully, she was a Lead at her previous company — a step above what the listing was offering. For most people, that’s a reason not to apply. For Isabel, the title wasn’t the point.
“I like calling Workfully an “all-together” platform for recruiters. You just log in and have everything you need in one place. My days used to look like a screen full of a hundred tabs open. Now it’s just Workfully, my calendar, email, and — of course — LinkedIn.”

What it’s added up to
Better clients, real growth, and an invoicing target she once thought was far away.
From the start, Isabel was working with strong clients. The work itself raised the bar.
“From the very beginning, I started working with amazing clients through Workfully. Whenever I’ve needed any kind of support, the team has always been there to help.”
And the business side has compounded too. There’s a number she set for herself once — the kind of monthly invoice figure that felt symbolic, the one you write down and quietly assume you’ll be working toward for years.
“I once set a goal for how much I wanted to invoice “someday.” It felt far away back then. Recently, I’ve gotten surprisingly close.”
The professional growth has been quieter, but maybe more durable. More independent. More confident. Better at the kind of trust-building that takes years to learn inside a company hierarchy.
“Looking back and seeing how much I’ve grown professionally — I’ve become much more independent, learned how to build genuine trust, and gained confidence when speaking with clients, candidates, or peers.”
““Freelancing can feel wild — trust me, I’ve spoken with quite a few freelancers by now. But it doesn’t have to be that way. With the right support, and the right community, you can actually enjoy the ride.””
